Pediatric Burn Camp
Camp David is a week of adventure and discovery, designed specifically for pediatric burn survivors aged 7 to 15. It is open to all survivors, regardless of ethnicity, language, or religious affiliation. Camp David is unique among burn camps because it also includes siblings and children of burn survivors whose lives are also severely impacted by burn injury. This amazing camp is also made available to the children free of charge.

At burn camp, children learn the core spiritual values which enhance the ability to survive injury and gain the self confidence, self-esteem and the coping skills that will allow them to re-enter and function happily in society. Surrounded by caring mentors, volunteers of the Texas Burn Survivor Society and the incredible men and women of the San Antonio and Austin Fire Department, Camp David allows the children to discover that anything is possible. Here, potential has no limit.

Teen Retreat
Teen Retreat is a bi-annual three day event, designed for young adults aged 15 to graduating high school senior. The individuals that attend Teen Retreat are those that have been greatly impacted by burn injury, being a survivor themselves, or being a child or sibling of a burn survivor. These retreats are comprised of many different activities from staying at the beautiful McKinney Roughs Nature Park and then spending time with the Austin Fire Department on their drill field. There is nothing like regaining one's self-confidence and learning team work as you rappel down a four story building with firefighters cheering you on. During Teen Retreat challenges are met and accomplished. Learning from one another and following the examples of the devoted mentors, teens become young adults ready to face the real world challenges and conquer their dreams.

The purpose of the Texas Burn Survivor Society (TBSS) is to provide care, comfort and essential services to the critically burned and their families, not merely during hospitalization, but post-discharge. The Society accomplishes this mission through an array of programs specifically designed to meet the needs of the seriously burned. The distinguishing feature of the TBSS is its hands-on approach to the care of the survivor.
