Eagle Scout Honors Madla Firefighters at 5K Benefit.

Fuego 5K, a Fire/Burn Prevention run, hosted by the Texas Burn Survivor Society and directed by a local Eagle Scout, was held at Brackenridge Park on February 24, 2007.

No one will forget the tragic Thanksgiving Fire that claimed Senator Madla, his mother-in-law, and his granddaughter. Neither will the Texas Burn Survivor Society (TBSS) as they honor these heroic men and women who fought to save their lives during a ceremony on February 24th, 2007, at the Fuego 5K. Along with honoring these two crews, we will also be awarding the TBSS Medal of Valor and Community Service to two distinguished San Antonio Firefighters recognizing them for their bravery, selflessness and strength of character.

This is a family event, directed by a local Eagle Scout, to raise money and awareness in Fire and Burn Prevention. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go directly to the Texas Burn Survivor Society’s Fire Prevention Program.
